Welcome to the MA home of ZakatSuite — the fast page for Zakat in Morocco, priced throughout in MAD. Below: the Nisab in MAD at reference prices, a worked example in Moroccan dirham, the channels people in Morocco actually pay through, what counts as zakatable wealth here, and the Ramadan 2027 dates. Need the complete method as well? The full Morocco guide walks the calculation step by step in MAD.
The arithmetic for Morocco starts per gram: gold at MAD 760, silver at MAD 10, from reference prices of USD 76.42/g and USD 0.98/g at 9.95 MAD per dollar. Multiply up: 87.48 grams of gold puts the gold Nisab at MAD 66,518, and 612.36 grams of silver puts the silver Nisab at MAD 5,971. Both are indicative snapshots — the calculators fetch live prices the moment you use them, and Zakat law judges your wealth against the Nisab of your actual due date, not of the day you happened to read a web page.
Take a concrete case in Morocco: a resident holds 150 grams of gold — worth about MAD 114,057 at the indicative per-gram price on this page — plus MAD 8,957 in savings. Combined zakatable wealth is MAD 123,014. That clears the Nisab comfortably and, after a full lunar year, the Zakat is 2.5% of the combined figure: MAD 3,075. Notice that the gold is not tested against the gold Nisab on its own here — in a mixed portfolio the assets are valued together in MAD and tested once, which is how the calculators on this page proceed.
In Morocco today, most Zakat is paid through the same short list of routes: community collection points and food banks during Ramadan, bank transfer to registered Zakat charities and local Zakat committees that collect and distribute within the community. What is owed was settled before any channel was chosen — net wealth tested against the MAD Nisab (MAD 5,971 on the silver standard) and charged at 2.5% — so pick for reliability: proper identification of eligible recipients, and full transfer of ownership. Payers who give internationally should confirm that the receiving end is Zakat-eligible and not a general appeal, then file the confirmation with the year's PDF report.
What counts in Morocco is what counts everywhere: cash in hand and in the bank, savings and deposits, gold and silver in any form, stock bought for resale, business inventory and receivables, investments and crypto at market value — all of it converted into MAD where necessary. Excluded by agreement: your home in Morocco, your car, household furniture and personal effects, plus anything you do not truly own or cannot reach. Debts due now come off before the Nisab test; and the worked example above shows the shape of it in Morocco: 150 grams of gold and a savings balance, combined, tested once, and charged at 2.5% after a hawl.
The Ramadan of 1448 AH should begin on Monday 8 February 2027 for Morocco as for most of the world, always subject to moon sighting and your community's announcement. Ramadan's last ten nights start at Maghrib on 27 February 2027, Laylat al-Qadr being sought on the odd nights — 27 February, then 1, 3, 5 and 7 March — and the 27th night falling on the evening of Friday 5 March 2027. The last fast is expected on 8 or 9 March 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on 9–10 March 2027. Day-by-day fasting times are listed in the Ramadan 2027 timetable for Morocco — Rabat; Fitrana is due before the Eid prayer, not after it. In Rabat, day one runs from Fajr 05:49 to Maghrib 18:09.
On reference prices, the gold Nisab is MAD 66,518, the value of 87.48 grams of gold priced at MAD 760 the gram. The live figure moves with the gold market, so confirm the amount in the calculator on your due date. The gold threshold is the higher of the two Nisabs; in Morocco that is MAD 5,971 at the same reference prices.
For money-like wealth in Morocco, start with silver (MAD 5,971) since it brings more wealth into the duty and directs more to the poor. Wealth held purely as gold is a different case: there, all schools test against the gold threshold (MAD 66,518). The calculator displays both MAD figures side by side so take the pair of numbers to a scholar you trust rather than choosing by the size of the bill.
On the anniversary, counted in the lunar calendar, the Hijri anniversary of the day your wealth first reached the Nisab. Because a hawl is 354 days, in Gregorian terms the date arrives about eleven days sooner each year. If you pay in Ramadan for the multiplied reward, as many in Morocco do, provided an earlier hawl is not left unpaid in the meantime; advance payment is valid, delay without excuse is not.
Yes — the channels listed above are exactly how most Zakat now leaves Morocco, and online payment changes nothing about the duty itself. The conditions are that the recipient is Zakat-eligible under Quran 9:60 and that ownership of the money genuinely passes to them or their appointed agent. Keep the platform's confirmation with your PDF report for Morocco, keep the confirmation email or receipt with your calculation report, and record the Hijri date of payment as well as the Gregorian one.
The full 30-day table for the capital is on the Ramadan 2027 timetable for Morocco, starting 8 February 2027. Capital times are the reference, not the last word — if you live far from it, allow for your local difference or check your mosque's timetable.
