Istanbul Ramadan Calendar 2027 — Sehri & Iftar Times

This is the complete Ramadan 2027 calendar for Istanbul, Turkey, Sehri, Sunrise, Dhuhr, both Asr times, Iftar and Isha for each of the month's thirty days, 8 February 2027 to Tue, 9 Mar 2027. Ramadan is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 in Turkey, subject to the sighting of the new moon, and to end with Eid al-Fitr around 9–10 March 2027. In Istanbul the opening fast lasts 12 hours 2 minutes and the closing one 13 hours 16 minutes; and by day 30 those bookends have moved to 05:55 and 19:11, a fast of 13 hours 16 minutes. Every time is computed for Istanbul by the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı, Turkey (experimental) method (Europe/Istanbul). Elsewhere in Turkey, longitude shifts the minutes; a local mosque timetable outranks this city table wherever the two disagree.

Reading a row in Istanbul: Sehri ends at the Fajr figure — 06:34 at the month's start, 05:55 at its end — and the fast, begun after the blessed pre-dawn meal taken just before that deadline, runs untouched until the Maghrib figure. Between those two times nothing passes the lips; when the fast is broken at the Iftar time, traditionally with dates and water before the Maghrib prayer. In Istanbul that wait is 12 hours 2 minutes on the first day and 13 hours 16 minutes on the last. Notice the drift measured in this table: across the month Fajr travels 39 minutes and Maghrib 35 minutes in Istanbul, so a first-week printout is measurably wrong by the fourth week. The most charged nights of the month fall inside this table — the last ten nights begin at Maghrib on 27 February 2027, and Laylat al-Qadr is sought on the odd nights beginning at Maghrib on 27 February, 1, 3, 5 and 7 March, with the 27th night of Ramadan beginning at Maghrib on 5 March; in Istanbul that night's fast has run from Fajr 06:00 to Maghrib 19:07.

Hanafi, Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali times in Istanbul

The madhab selector on the live page exists for exactly one column. Fajr and Maghrib — the two ends of the fast — are not a madhab question in Istanbul: all four schools fast from the same dawn to the same sunset. The printed pair on day 1 — 16:08 (Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanbali) and 16:51 (Hanafi) — encodes the classical shadow disagreement, and the table keeps both columns all month so nobody has to convert by hand. A household in Istanbul that mixes madhabs can therefore share one calendar honestly: one Sehri, one Iftar, and two Asr times, each person praying by their own school.

Jafari Sehri and Iftar times in Istanbul

Jafari (Shia) times are shown in their own tab on the live page, not mixed into the table above. Applied to Istanbul: day 1 Sehri 06:24 (Fajr 06:34 minus 10) and Iftar 18:48 (Maghrib 18:36 plus 12); day 30 Sehri 05:45 and Iftar 19:23. Where your own marja's ruling differs from the 10/12-minute convention, follow that ruling; the tab exists to make the common practice easy to find, not to settle a point of taqlid.

Duas for Sehri and Iftar

Dua at Sehri (intention): Wa bi-sawmi ghadin nawytu min shahri Ramadan — "I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan." Dua at Iftar: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa 'alayka tawakkaltu wa 'ala rizqika aftartu — "O Allah, I fasted for You, I believe in You, I trust in You, and I break my fast with the provision You have given." Keep both short duas by the table in Istanbul: the first is said quietly with the intention before Fajr (06:34 on day 1), the second at the moment of Iftar, with dates and water, before the Maghrib prayer. In the last ten nights add the Laylat al-Qadr dua taught by the Prophet: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni — "O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love pardon, so pardon me."

Notes on this calendar

How this Istanbul calendar was calculated: every time is calculated for Istanbul's coordinates (41.01, 28.98) in the Europe/Istanbul time zone, using the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı, Turkey (experimental) method — the convention customary for Turkey. Allow a precaution of about one minute at each end of the fast — stop eating a minute before the printed Fajr and wait a minute after the printed Maghrib if you wish to be careful — and treat your local mosque's announced timetable as final wherever it differs by a minute or two, since mosques sometimes build that precaution in.

Why thirty rows when Ramadan may end at twenty-nine? Because the month is completed at 30 only when the Shawwal crescent stays unseen on the 29th evening. The table prints all thirty so both endings are covered: If Eid is announced after 29 fasts in Turkey, the final row (Tue, 9 Mar 2027, Iftar 19:11 in Istanbul) simply does not apply, and Iftar on the 29th day is followed by the night of Eid instead. Conversely, if your community begins Ramadan a day later than the expected 8 February 2027 start, shift every row by one day. Method differences show up at the edges of the day — the Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı, Turkey (experimental) Fajr of 06:34 and Isha of 19:57 on day 1 are convention, while Dhuhr (13:23), Asr and Maghrib are the sun itself, which is why rival tables agree on Iftar and quarrel politely over Sehri.

For workers on physical shifts in Istanbul, plan around the month's shape: fasts of 12 hours 2 minutes at the start becoming 13 hours 16 minutes by the end. Where health, medication, pregnancy or travel enters the picture, the ruling may change entirely. Read the exemption guides below before deciding anything alone, and ask a scholar where your case is unclear: the fast is precious, and so is the health it was never meant to destroy. May Allah accept your fasts, your night prayers and your giving this month.

Frequently asked questions

When does Ramadan 2027 start in Istanbul?

The expected first fast in Istanbul is Monday 8 February 2027, pending the moon sighting that confirms it. A one-day slip in the start moves the whole table by one row: shift every row by one day; the drift across the month in Istanbul is gradual — Fajr moves 39 minutes earlier in total — so no day's times change abruptly.

What are the Sehri and Iftar times in Istanbul on the first day of Ramadan 2027?

On day 1 (Mon, 8 Feb 2027, 1 Ramaḍān 1448), Sehri ends at Fajr, 06:34 in Istanbul, and Iftar is at Maghrib 18:36. Eat and drink before that time; the fast then runs 12 hours 2 minutes until Maghrib. Fajr drifts 39 minutes earlier across the month in Istanbul, ending at 05:55 on day 30, while Iftar moves to 19:11.

Which calculation method does the Istanbul Ramadan calendar use?

The Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı, Turkey (experimental) convention — the method customary for Istanbul — which is the convention customarily used for this part of Turkey. Fajr gives the Sehri end time and Maghrib gives Iftar; the method's sun angles are what fix Fajr at 06:34 and Isha at 19:57 on day 1, while Dhuhr (13:23) and Maghrib follow the sun directly. Communities and mosques occasionally adjust by a minute or two for precaution, so treat your local mosque's timetable as final where it differs slightly. A branded PDF calendar for Istanbul, in the madhab you select, can be downloaded from the live version of this page.

Why are there two Asr times for Istanbul, and which one should I use?

Asr is where the madhab choice shows up in Istanbul's table — Sehri and Iftar do not change. On day 1 the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali Asr is 16:08, while the Hanafi Asr is 16:51 — 43 minutes later. The difference comes from the shadow rule: the first three schools begin Asr when an object's shadow equals its length (besides the noon shadow), while the Hanafi school waits until the shadow is twice the length. Follow the madhab you normally pray by, and use the same column all month so your Taraweeh and Iftar routine stays consistent.

What is the longest fast in Istanbul during Ramadan 2027?

In Istanbul the month peaks on day 30: 13 hours 16 minutes from Fajr 05:55 to Maghrib 19:11 (Tue, 9 Mar 2027). Day 1 lasts 12 hours 2 minutes and the last day 13 hours 16 minutes, with the shortest fast — day 1, 12 hours 2 minutes — in between. If Ramadan completes 30 days where you are, the final evening's Maghrib is followed by the night of Eid; if the new moon is sighted a day earlier, Eid falls a day sooner and the final row is not used.

What are the Jafari (Shia) Sehri and Iftar times in Istanbul?

On the Jafari fiqh convention used alongside this calendar, Sehri is taken 10 minutes before Fajr as a precaution and Iftar is taken 12 minutes after Maghrib. Day 1 in Istanbul: Sehri 06:24, Iftar 18:48; day 30: Sehri 05:45, Iftar 19:23. Nothing else in the table changes for Jafari readers: the adjustment touches only the start and end of the fast, and it is labelled as Jafari practice rather than mixed into the Sunni madhab columns.
